My son Nicholas and I visited Bathurst Island off the northern coast of AU for his 16th birthday. When our tiny plane landed our Aboriginal guides took us to this lovely quiet pool with the silvery eucalyptus trees reflecting in the water.

My father's library filled an entire wall of his modest study. The books dusty and moth eaten. When he was 90, I asked him if we should donate them to a charity, and he said "Please leave them where they are till I am alive. They are my companions". He also enjoyed a scotch almost to the very end.

This piece is strung in part on a leather cord. The other part is wired with copper wire and hand made copper beads caps. A matching set of earrings with small flameworked beads. All glass is flameworked by me and kiln annealed.

The piece has 3 glass hollow beads and 4 smaller ones. The bead caps are handmade and the complementary beads are all store beads. The necklace is strung on beadalon wire. The earrings also have 2 flameworked beads. All beads are made by me in my studio and put together by me.

The painting takes its title from Leibniz, “Principes de la nature et de la grâce fondés en raison" – where he writes that “every monad is a living mirror." It is one in a series of paintings I’ve done over the past year in conversation with that essay, which Leibniz wrote late in his life at about the same time as his better known Monadology, and which I read as a series of visions. The series of paintings is part of a larger project that includes a collection of eighteen poems (“the beat of the sounding body”) inspired by my meditation on Leibniz. The paintings and the poems continue work that began over twenty years ago with a project on “real presence” that focused on the philosophy of Anne Conway, which influenced Leibniz as he developed his monadology, in which he maintains (as did Conway) that every body is connected to every other body.

It is my fervent hope that people can come together as easily as I sewed these fabric scraps together. I use only castoff fabrics in my art – making the materials beautiful by reuse.

This piece explores the idea of our inner dreams and visions. Encircled by a cascade of delicate white butterflies, the subject is a vessel for the subtle murmurs of her inner self and aspirations. The butterflies symbolize the gentle whispers that connect her to the dreams within. I believe that when we follow our inner callings, we are able to connect with our true north and find a way to realize our dreams. The piece invites viewers to contemplate the subtle, often overlooked whispers of their inner desires and dreams.

I absolutely love to create beautiful works of art starting with a lump of clay. It took several years of playing with clay before I could call myself an artist, but I now feel comfortable saying I am a ceramic artist. I find joy in giving pieces to family and friends and showing and selling my work at various galleries and festivals in the Kansas City area. The most fun I have is pursuing the creative process. Rustic Lace was created using an imprint of a crocheted doily made by my friend’s mother. I pressed the doily into a slab of white stoneware clay and carefully cut around it before shaping it into a bowl form with wavy edges. The doily was removed and washed to be reused without harm. The bowl was finished with a greenish brown shino glaze that accentuates the texture and crochet detail yet gives an earthy and rustic look. The back of the bowl was finished with an oakwood brown glaze. The bowl is food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. The size is 10x10x3 inches. KM1724. IMG_4061.

When I asked our son what came to mind for him when he thought of realize your dreams, he said he'd always wanted to live like the Swiss Family Robinsons. This tree house and seating below have so much detail you would probably want to hang it on a wall, but the sunset really comes to life with the sun shining through.

This stained glass breaching whale is giving a mermaid a boost towards her wildest dreams...This piece looks beautiful with the sun shining through or on a wall with light shining on it. The fused glass gives the ocean an extra dimension. The frame has had a shimmery copper and turquoise resin added to it.

One point of view that captures the unique design elements of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville AR. Designed by architect Moshe Safdie, the structures are meant to provide views of the surrounding landscape and play up the interaction between architecture, art, and nature. Watercolor and ink sketch on Arches hot pressed 140# paper.

This image, originally created as a watercolor, has been reproduced in a limited edition of high quality prints commemorating the Kansas City Chiefs’ win in Super Bowl LVII. Titled “Victory Parade - LVII,” this work depicts the scene from the corner of Pershing and Grand in downtown Kansas City, MO on February 15, 2023. Fans look on as the team and their entourage make their way to the stage in front of Union Station, to address their Kingdom and celebrate their win! Each print has been hand signed and numbered (as shown), and offered here unmatted/unframed. Protected by a clear plastic sleeve. Image size is 8”x8” (8.5” height, including signature). Overall dimensions are 10”x10”.

Inspiration: Gorgeous Sunsets into the water especially the ones viewed from our lake. Artistic Process: I made a background of colors to resemble a sunset over the water which took multiple firings in the kiln to get the right effect and texture. I separately made the glass lace using colors in a pattern to match the sunset background. the lace was added to the background with additional texture especially for the ground. The glass art is mounted with standoffs to brushed stainless steel which shows reflections of the glass on the brushed stainless steel depending on the lighting. It is wired for hanging with welded brackets to keep the artwork flat and straight on the wall with no tilting.

I found an ugly metal sculpture and my first thought was I can transform this into something gorgeous with glass. It took me a long time to decide on a design. After looking at the sculpture and debating several designs - I got started. I made several glass lace in various colors and then fused each to different background glass keeping the texture of the lace. Once I had the right color combinations, I cut the glass into shapes to match the metal sculpture using my ring saw. These shapes were then fire polished so the sides were shiny. I then installed a glass shape to the equivalent shape on the metal sculpture.

Prasãrita Padottanãsana A (also known as the wide legged forward bend pose in modern yoga) is a large scale abstract painting created with palette knives and non traditional tools. This abstract expressionist work is influenced by Hennick’s meditation and yoga practice and was completed in 2022.
