This plein air piece was painted in the shadow of the WWI Memorial. It captures not only the beauty of the architecture of the station, but the busyness of the city life.

At the Nelson includes images of shuttlecock, Warhol, Johns, Rauschenberg, Haring, & Hockney, plus found objects and 3D heads. A pop-art throw back in bright color block featuring a 3D stretched canvas.

Nature puts on some of her best dress for the fall season. In Kansas City, we have beautiful landscapes in both our public and private spaces. This beautiful park area showcases some of our gorgeous red trees. Painted primarily with a palette knife, the texture comes off the canvas.

Drawn from my photo so it was fun to put in the different sizes of falling snow under all those street lights on my block.

One can only imagine the steel and iron clanging away as steam was produced to heat engines and run the mechanics of Union Station back in its' prime source of travel. Today, the space gives only a hint of the muscle that was once needed to operate this grand station.

A large storm gathers over the rail yards. This image was taken from the grounds of Liberty Memorial facing westward. I think of the many historical events that, not unlike a storm, have loomed over Kansas City, only to show her resilience in the face of adversity.

Sunset on the plaza is magical and brings out the festive allure of the plaza stucco facades.

Textural Abstract Painting of the Kansas City Skyline. A celebration of all the makes our hometown shine!

From a bicycle ride past the park last April '21. I took some pictures, and started the painting in my studio.

On a sunny, early winter day, I took a photo of this bush with these brilliantly glowing winterberries. All other vegetation nearby was some shade of browns, golds, and tans. So these berries certainly stood out.

Built in 1881, this historic KC landmark, is the theme of this on-location painting. Contrasting areas of warm and cool colors, combined with broad brush strokes, encourage the viewer to explore the architectural facade of this Victorian residence.

Painted "en plein air" (on location), this expressive styled painting documents the atmosphere and energy surrounding the Endangered Species Carousel at the KC Zoo. Both lively brushwork and saturated color are used to capture this favorite attraction - complete with galloping animals and calliope music.

Blended brushwork is applied to capture the KC Zoo entrance on a warm, summer afternoon. Painted on location, the repeated patterns and crisp shadows serve to define this landmark gateway - that welcomes guests to explore 200 acres of animals and adventure.

This is a nighttime photograph of the Kansas City skyline taken from Kaw Point landing. Kansas City is beautiful at night but the reflections made in the river really set it off. Photograph is printed on archival paper with archival inks.

Iconic Union Station bathed in the Golden Hour light. This building is like most areas in Kansas City in that it can look different any time of the day or night. But I prefer this time of day; it's magic! Very little post processing done on this photo. Photograph is printed on archival paper with archival inks.

This painting brings the National war memorial of Kansas City to canvas.

Ceramic shuttlecocks with doily imprint, set of three. My shuttlecock series was created using white clay with lace doily imprints to evoke the image of the Kansas City shuttlecocks on the lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Each piece was glazed with a white glaze and light reddish-copper glaze to accentuate the texture and details of the doily. The bottom/inside of each shuttlecock was glazed with a white glaze to allow for display when laid sideways. Each piece in this set was created using a different doily. I enjoy creating pottery using crocheted doilies, many of which were made by my great-grandmother. I press a doily into a slab of clay and carefully cut around each shape before forming it. The doily is removed and can be washed or reused without harm. Each crocheted doily is unique and each piece of pottery I create is one-of-a-kind as well. IMG_5474

Framed 12″ x 12″ acrylic painting on birch panel. Surya Namaskãr B #8 is one of 20 in a series of abstract paintings created with palette knives and non traditional tools. These abstract works are inspired by the Sun Salutations, a sequence of 12 powerful yoga postures that warms, strengthens, and aligns the entire body. Sun Salutations are a key part of Hennick’s vinyasa flow style yoga practice. The Surya Namaskãr Series was created in 2020.

Painted en plein air on the grounds of the Anita B Gorman Conservation Discovery Center in Kansas City. The contrast between the rambling garden flowers and the organized backdrop of architecture caught my attention.

The National WW1 Memorial stands as a testament to the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of all who served in WW1. As I watched the news coming out of Ukraine, I wanted to do my little part, through this painting, to remind people that the civilized world must stand united against the atrocities of war. Lest we forget!

Giralda tower is one of my favorite subjects to paint. I love the view from this angle. Also, the long cast shadows created an interesting mix of lights and darks for the traffic to move through.

The atmosphere of the early morning caught my attention. The change in the sky, the mix of warm and cool colors and the sparkling of streetlights and traffic added to the rich morning scene.

I loved the glowing light of the marquee contrasting with the late evening light.

This collage features maps of the Kansas City parks, as well as some of Kansas City's most recognized icons. The parks have been enjoyed all in our past and this piece should also encourage us to enjoy it in the future as well. The collage is enclosed in a floating frame.

This photo was taken during one of the best parts of the year- autumn. Loose Park has a way of really showing off autumn's magic in Kansas City. Picture is framed.

Inspired while kayaking along the Missouri River in Kansas City. Kilnfired glass with multiple elements and layers requiring multiple firings to make the trees, rocks and leaves. This curved glass sculpture is kilnformed in the shape of a wave/s-curve with the bottom ground so it stands level and stable.
