Bio:
Karen Merkel is a ceramic artist and photographer. Karen prefers hand-building pottery techniques and often lets nature inspire her work, using leaves and wheat pressed into the clay. Other pieces are embellished with impressions of her great-grandmother's crocheted lace doilies, giving antique objects new life. Karen is originally from south central Kansas but has lived in the Kansas City area for many years. Her passions include traveling and gardening, and both provide great subjects for photographs.
