Bio:
A passing rainstorm with light filtering through the clouds, a bolt of lightning cutting sharply through an ominous sky, a rock skipping over a glassy pond, or wisps of wheat floating in the breeze. These are just a few reasons why I have embraced the art of photography. Capturing nature’s phenomenon and experiencing the mood when light prevails upon a subject, at the moment of incarnation, confirms my awe of life. Photography has coaxed me into capturing that moment of curiosity and express emotions when words fail. A camera captures the image, but the photographer delivers the sensation, keeping it alive so it can be experienced many times. So, as alchemies of color, shadows, and light are revealed to me, I embark on a journey to capture the essence of sensation. When a photo is emerging, I become excited about the prospects of the work. Whether it is completely spontaneous, or deliberately planned and executed, I am absorbed by the entire process. From the moment the photo is taken until the work is displayed, I am exhilarated. Discovering digital photography has enabled me to express myself as never before. My enjoyment and ability to produce fine art photography has grown exponentially over the years. And so, as the artist emerges, the journey continues. Bio Since retiring in 2016 my goal is to dedicate more time to fine art photography and have been working on assembling a worthy body of work for future showings. I have been taking pictures for over 30 years, and in 2005 have embraced digital photography and have concentrated my efforts on Fine Art photography. After several introductory night classes at a local Junior College in Digital Photography and Adobe CS3, most of my learning has been self taught through reading numerous trade journals, how to manuals, and photographic art history books.
