Bio:

BECKY STEVENS, received her BFA (1986) in Fine Art from Northwest Missouri State University and is a studio artist. After graduating she taught as a substitute teacher for the Belton and Blue Springs school district. She spent several summers working for Access Arts, leading a team of artists, using art to help blind children interpret their environment. Her community arts activism includes a seat on the board of the Kansas City Weavers Guild since 2006, a board member of Missouri Fiber Artists (MoFA) since 2013, a founding member of the Feltmakers Federation (regional group of felt artists) and the founder of Surface Design Master Classes for the Kansas City Weavers Guild. She is a member of Surface Design Association, Kansas City Artist Coalition, and the St Louis Artist Guild. Becky has been in numerous juried shows receiving awards for her work and has done numerous commissions. She has also lectured on natural dyes, textile, and mixed media practices. She has always worked to combine modern art thinking with centuries old techniques. Her current work combines photography, encaustic, and felt.
