Bio:
Doug Frye Artist’s Statement Using techniques unusual to me, I created images of the Kansas Flint Hills. In "Prince of the Flint Hills", "Tres Hombres" and "Soaring Vulture" I pay homage to three enduring symbols of this extraordinary landscape. Through intricate cut-out abstraction, I capture the spirit and strength of these iconic creatures that once roamed these plains freely. This piece reflects not only the beauty of each, but also the profound connection between nature and heritage in the Flint Hills. Each layer represents the rich history and cultural significance of this region, inviting viewers to contemplate the their role in our ecosystem and its enduring presence in our hearts. Let this work inspire a greater appreciation for the wild spirit of the Flint Hills.
