Bio:
Craig Thompson received a Communications Design degree from Johnson County Community College. His particular area of interest with the program was photography. He then earned an Environmental Studies degree from the University of Kansas. Mr. Thompson’s photographs have appeared in KANSAS! magazine, Paddling Kansas, Exploring the Kaw Valley, Forever Kansas!, and other publications. His photography also appeared in many KANSAS! magazine calendars and a front cover for the magazine’s 1995 fiftieth anniversary issue. Craig began exploring Kansas while working for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. While at the state agency, he conducted water quality surveys. During a water quality survey on the Kansas River at Lecompton, he became intrigued by the state's namesake river. Over the next several years, he photographed the river and published a book titled Along the Kaw: A Journey Down the Kansas River.
