Bio:
Marianne grew up in southwest Kansas where the sky stretches from one horizon to the other without obstruction. Where roads reach straight ahead like the lines on graph paper – the landscape so expansive it provided the enormous canvas from which Marianne first learned to love creation. She developed visual appreciation for everything around her - the great and the small. It’s been said that if you haven’t seen a sunset in Kansas, you really haven’t seen the sun set. In Kansas, especially the open plains in the west, the vistas are nothing if not inspiring. It is in this small rural setting where words aren’t adequate to express what the eyes see. So, the natural method of communication is through the lens of the camera. Behind the lens Marianne is creating and giving back to others. The viewer can step into a scene and have a visceral moment. Marianne moved to the Kansas City area nearly 15 years ago where she began to spend more time developing her talent as a photographer. Constantly learning and snapping photos she increased in both technical skills and artistic expression. Her work includes portraiture, landscapes, skyscapes, special events and macro photography. However, it is the love of nature that brings her inner creativity to life. All things related to the process of the final photograph is pursued with equal enthusiasm- from setting up the shot, waiting for long periods of time for a specific event, snapping the shutter at that perfect moment, to post production where the final image is created and ultimately shared. The end result is a photograph that makes the viewer slow down, look a little closer, relive a feeling, or linger and reminisce. This is the art of photography.
