Bio:

Cathy Logan grew up in the 1950s and 60s in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Her hometown is three miles from Newark and about twelve from New York City. As a youngster she was allowed free access to the leafy green suburban outdoors and the urban and industrial landscapes nearby. She and her friends explored by bicycle, discovering a range of visual delights from horses to the dumping grounds of a scientific glass manufacturing factory. As early as her introduction to easel painting in Miss Bloom’s kindergarten, her constant desire was to be an artist. By the time she was in high school she and her classmates, accompanied by their art teacher, Mrs. Nancy Coon, embarked on day-long field trips to the art scene in New York City. The number 33 bus to New York’s Port Authority ran right past the high school, a great convenience for sanctioned and unsanctioned trips. In 1970 she enrolled at the Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA in 1974. In 1976-77 she was in the MFA program at Tyler School of Art, but did not return the second year. She taught art in Lee County, Florida public schools for twenty-one years, always striving to do no harm to the creative spirit.
