Bio:
George Utter (age 45) My role as an artist is to help people see in a different way. I'm sharing a part of myself and I like seeing people happy. Different experiences influence my art and the way I paint. I will have an experience in mind and then I like to use the brush strokes over and over again to create feelings and memories of it. For instance, I painted a racetrack. I felt the dirt and the mud. I saw the lights. The sounds were extreme and the speed was extreme. I try to imagine those things when I'm painting. I will overlap colors. Colors and light are important to me. In my first solo exhibit "Montage On Canvas" December 2016, consisting of 17 pieces of work, an artist described me as, "George Utter as a natural in painting abstract art. He is progressive in his concept of taking experiences and building on them a montage of images in which he incorporates time into one space with each overlapping image. George likes to take an experience and evoke feelings of the lights, sounds, and movements of that experience. From a tornado to a mud track race, George likes to incorporate himself into an experience that he can share with the viewer." I have been working in the JCDS Emerging Artist Program and participating in local art fairs, and juried art show since 2013.
