Bio:

Kam Yew Chee is an avid sculpturist from Malaysia. He joins Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) as a lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Science. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Science in the said university. He first developed his sculpturing interest when he was selected for the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) Taiwan Elite Internship Program for 4 months in 2014. The main intention was to explore his research options in science but it spanned out into extracurricular activities during his pastimes. That was the time he picked up his first sculpturing basics and learned the trade. To further explore different media, he also participated in the International Postgraduate Medical Training (IPMT) in 2014 and 2015 in Malaysia, specializing in Anthroposophic Art Therapy. To further enhance his skills, he also attended a 7-day Art Therapy Introduction workshop organized by IPMT Malaysia in the end of 2015. The workshop provided him ample exposure with mixed media. In 2015 itself, Kam had his first group exhibition when he submitted his work to MyEndosis Walk: Stand Up, Speak Up, Let's unite Art Exhibition organized by UTAR Centre for Media & Creative Communication (CMCC). The exhibition was to raise awareness on Endometriosis, a menstrual-health related disease affecting women worldwide. Kam currently resides in Kampar, Perak, Malaysia. He rented a room near his current university, which serves as his living space and also his art studio.
