Bio:
My life as an artist began in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I observed my father in his studio. I watched as he created inspiring pieces; works that awakened a desire to tap into my own artistic ability. Today, I strive for my work to show my unique style and my love for creating art. By staying active as an artist in the community, creativity remains as a critical part of my daily life. I received my bachelor’s from Pittsburg State University and my Masters of Art in Teaching at Missouri State University in conjunction with Missouri Southern State University. I am an art instructor at Carl Junction Junior High School. For me, teaching becomes an art form, and the reward is in watching my students develop their own artistic style, while learning to express their voice through art. Art plays an essential role in defining who we are. There are no boundaries, allowing the journey to be in the eye and heart of the beholder. My work starts with a color scheme and then evolves into compositions which represent figures and objects. I arrange objects in my work to produce a personal perception and interaction within a visual presentation. Serenity and simplicity are my primary goals. For me, art is a synthesis of my personal feelings and the subjects and colors that inspire me. Life experience is a creative catalyst, and each encounter with a new person has a purpose. Each person is a piece in the overall composition of my life. My desire is for my work to portray that ideology. My work is an expression of my soul’s journey through life; an extension of who I am. Art is an exploration of the soul; therefore, creating art is a personal experience of that exploration; an experience which inspires and serves in the lives of others. ~Elizabeth Cosby
