Bio:
In the mid 1980’s Steve Doerr started making furniture for family and friends. In 2008, he decided to give woodturning a try and bought his first lathe. The rest is just history. In 2010 he retired after spending 37 years in public education. He is now fortunate enough to do woodturning on a “full time†basis. Having primarily been self-taught, the majority of his woodworking time is spent making turnings. As an artist, his primary goal is to discover and display the beautiful grains and colors that God has hidden in His many different trees. Steve is able to accomplish this by creating one-of-a-kind handcrafted turnings of visual and functional art made from both domestic and exotic woods. As a woodturner, he focuses his talents on creating bowls, pens, platters, hollow forms/vases, and decorative turnings. Because of the nature of the grain and color of wood, no two turnings are ever the same.
