Bio:

Capturing the beauty found in the world all around us on canvas has always inspired me. Everyday things can become intriquing vignettes when painted. Regardless of the subject matter, whether it is a scenic overlook of a majestic vista, a scene from someone’s favorite vacation spot, or a unique cityscape, I am continually challenged. This challenge is to create works that allow the viewer to viscerally re-experience a special moment in time. That emotional response is heightened with brush stroke intensity, intriguing use of color and composition. A native of the St. Louis metropolitan area, I was transplanted to Kansas City almost nineteen years ago to further my career incorporate America. Several years ago my career path changed directions and I now co-own and operate a remodeling company in the Kansas City area. One weekend about seven years ago, my wife Dorette and I were at an estate sale and came across a tackle box full of oil paints and crusty brushes. After buying the paints I tried my hand at painting. As my wife was looking through some of my finished pieces she said, “I think you might be kind of good!” That Christmas she surprised me by registering me for an “Introduction to Painting” class at a local community college. That’s how it all started. Since picking the brush for the first time in 2006 I have participated in studio sessions, attended numerous workshops, taken part in plein air events and spent countless hours in front of an easel, and yet I still look forward to the opportunity to paint today; even more than when I started.
