Bio:
Carol Zastoupil began painting after retiring as a high school teacher. Her paintings of fanciful landscapes take the viewer to another world of candy-colors and rolling hills. Mostly self- taught as a painter, Zastoupil studied textile design in weaving at the University Kansas. She later earned a Masters of Art in Art History and worked as a museum educator at the Nelson- Atkins Museum of Art and the Wichita Art Museum. Early in 2012 she had her first one-person show. Other shows followed at local galleries, The Late Show, Main Street Gallery, the Artists Coalition where she was an award winner in the River Market Regional in 2013, and Steeple of Light Gallery at Community Christian Church. In summer of 2016 as member of a women’s art group, RE GENERATION, she exhibited at Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art, St. Joseph, MO. RE: GE has another group show scheduled for April 2018. Zastoupil is a Kansas City transplant, settling here after college. In addition to painting she gardens and still hopes for a bumper crop tomatoes, or at least enough to share with friends.
