Bio:
Gil has been painting since he was 8 years old. He graduated with a BA degree in Illustration from Kansas State University in 1969. He owned and operated Gil Rumsey's Gallery until 2006 when a fire destroyed it. In 2013 Gil nearly died after contracting Guillain-Barre Syndrome. These experiences along with a vivid imagination, have shaped is ability to maintain wide range of subject matter & methodology. His subject matter is taken from nature, human experiences, & fantasies. He produces about 50 pieces each year in Watercolor, Acrylic & Mixed Media. His style is illustrative, impressionistic, expressionistic & abstract. He considers himself to be an abstract expressionist and self taught. He published an autobiography in 2015 that features more that 180 pieces of art. His studio and gallery are now located in his home.
