Bio:
Oil and acrylic painter Ken Chapin strives to celebrate the divine excellencies evident in creation, with special concentration on landscapes of the American West and Midwest. Engaging compositions are selected and refined as a framework for broken brushwork that evokes the visual and emotional effects of natural light and atmosphere. Recognitions include Best of Show/First Place Oil, STEMS 2016 Plein Air Paint, Overland Park, Kansas; Second Place Best of Show from juror Matt Smith at the Big Cedar Lodge 2011 Paint Out; Second Place, Night Paint, at the Big Cedar Lodge 2012 Paint Out. He is represented by the Buttonwood Art Space in Kansas City, Missouri and Studio 8369 in Grand Lake, Colorado. Ken is a member of the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Missouri State University, and a Master of Arts degree in Studio Art, Painting, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He taught art in the Independence Missouri Public School System for thirty-one years.
