My name is Heidi Pitre, and I'm an artist based in Kansas City, MO. I draw inspiration from the South, infusing my work with provocative yet gentle themes that evoke personal memories. Through my art, I aim to allow people to laugh at unpleasant memories or situations, turning them into warm recollections. My collection of short stories shares messages from different perspectives, embracing realities, spotlighting bad decisions, and choosing to exchange pain for a new understanding of the past. I've received the Pollock Krasner Grant and the Mississippi Arts Commission Fellowship, and my work has been showcased across the country.
