Bio:

Jeff Shankland is a Kansas City, MO native and has been painting for over twenty years. He began to revisit his passion for fine arts in the past few years as an approach to uncouple from a highly engaged digital world. Shankland contends “I became interested in how the mind processes our experiences in an extremely visual, interactive world. I found that returning to painting provided me a unique introspective into how the subconscious translates both emotional and visual experiences into art. I started using painting as an outlet to channel the constant motion of life.” Shankland’s work captures the diversity of textures, movements and emotion that people experience moment to moment. His unique process of using found household objects (scrapping knives, spoons, spatulas, etc.) to create depth and texture as well as his insightful sense of color make his work compelling to a wide audience.
