Maria North Morgan Maria is a multi-media artist who lives and works in Kansas City, Missouri and Des Moines, Iowa. A lifelong Kansas City resident, Maria is one of the inaugural Zhou B Arts Center studio artists. A civil rights attorney, and currently a healthcare executive for a safety net hospital, Maria has spent her career fighting for the rights of the underprivileged and the underserved. Maria began her artist journey during the 2020 shutdown. She created her first fluid art series during the George Floyd civil rights protests, the summer of 2020. Maria's art works to capture the lived experience of being a Black person in America - often depicting the contradictions and the complexities of living as a Black woman in America. Maria has several pieces in private and corporate collections around the country. She's had work featured in KC Studio Magazine, and in exhibitions at the InterUrban Arthouse, the Johnson County Museum, the Leedy Voulkos Art Center, the Bruce R Watkins Center, and the Zhou B Art Center in the 18th and Vine Jazz District.
