Bio:
Phyllis Anne (p’anne; p’anne ally) Jenkins of Metropolitan KC, studied with master artists in the USA and Peru after obtaining a master’s degree in psychology from Santa Clara University, in California. A master therapist and artist, Phyllis is inspired by the complexity of weathered surfaces that reflect the depth & beauty of nature’s “perfect imperfection”. She works in mixed media creating abstractions of the feeling of self in relationship to others and/or to the environment, figure and ground. Influenced by Asian sensibilities since childhood, she notes how objects transform themselves reflecting the actual Wabi Sabi of the lived-in world. She says, “The physicality of scraping, blending, sanding, smearing, and dripping captures an emotional history and like a Rorschach, ignites a personal and particular response in the viewer of curiosity or self-reflection.” Her work has been exhibited throughout Coastal California, the United States and International digital exhibits.
