Bio:

Jennifer was born and raised in Lincoln, NE. She grew up loving nature, animals, music, and art. In 2000, she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a B.S. in Biology, while also raising a toddler. Although she was able to devote some time to creating works of art, her artistic endeavors during that juncture were no more than a hobby. As a single mother, she had to dedicate herself to raising her son, Miguel, and to earning a decent living. A career in art was just a dream that had to be put on hold. When Miguel began college, Jennifer found that she then had the time to focus on her art and challenge herself to advance her craft. In 2020, she took steps to become more involved in the art community, to expose her work to the public eye, and to transform her hobby to an avocation. She became a member of Gallery 9, a boutique art gallery located in downtown Lincoln. The interaction with other artists and favorable critiques of her work by fellow artists and the public reignited her desire to pursue a career in art. In 2022, she began taking graduate level drawing courses at UNL, with the ultimate goal of entering a Master of Fine Arts program. While Jennifer does both paintings and drawings, her main focus recently has been developing her expertise drawing with charcoal. Her background in biology has definitely influenced her work, with much of her current output being devoted to capturing the beauty and idiosyncrasies of the natural world.
