MICHELE RENEE SHERLOCK ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Michele Renee Sherlock, is a contemporary, abstract painter with national exposure. Michele works with acrylic paints and mixed media on canvas. Michele was born and raised in Ohio. Shortly after completing her college studies, she moved to New York City. There, her passion for painting began to develop. Michele has lived in 3 of the largest cities in the U.S., New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Michele's travels have taken her to Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and almost every state in the U.S. During her travels, Michele would plan visits to the local art galleries, art museums and significant architectural sites. "I travel to absorb the culture and study significant local artists." Michele is a self-taught artist. Michele’s artistic mentor is award-winning, contemporary, abstract artist, Clara Berta. She has also studied with abstract artist, Daniel Diaz-Tai, collage artist Kathy Leader, and intuitive artist, Jesse Reno. Michele’s process is intuitive. She starts a painting with form and color selection, but then allows the flow of the paint to intuitively direct the completion of the painting. Michele’s paintings are non-objective, abstract, energetic, and colorful. The theme of Michele’s work is one of expressing on canvas the visual aspects of her emotional characteristics, and the complexity of her life experiences. Michele has participated in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States, and her work can be found in private collections nationally. Michele enjoys working in her studio in Kansas City, MO. Michele currently has a solo exhibition of her work at Cheryl Eve Acosta Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri.
