Bio:
Amy Harvey was raised by a family of artists and has been drawing her whole life. In 1982, she earned her degree in Ad Design and Illustration from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois. She also received four years private instruction from portrait and trompe l'oeil artist, Bob Byerley. Over the last 18 years, she has owned and operated a private art studio, taught drawing and painting lessons, and creativity workshops for children and adults. Amy is a stone sculpture and antique restorer, and has done work for the John Wornall House in Kansas City, MO and the McCoy House on the Historic Independence Square. She also works a a portrait artist and freelance muralist. She also enjoys pastel chalk painting on streets, and has been involved as a Madonnari Artist for a number of years at area events. Because of the nature of her work, Amy has become proficient in a number of mediums, from watercolor to oil, to sculpting techniques. Right now, she is really enjoying mixed media. She was always taught to create as truthfully and technically proficient as possible. The purpose behind her art is that people will begin to see the mystery of life more beautifully, realistically, thoughtfully, and joyfully.
