Bio:
Karen Dreyer is from Leawood, KS and is a contemporary, realist painter of landscapes, still lifes and animals. Most of what Karen has learned has come from her mother, who is also an artist, Toni Arnett. She has become Karen's greatest teacher and mentor in painting. Karen has taken workshops from John Poon, Carolyn Anderson and Kim Casebeer.
She has been accepted to show her work at Arti Gra, where she was the recipient of the Peoples choice award, Buttonwood art space and received second place for best in show and was also invited to have a one women show at Lake Quivira’s private club. Karen was also invited to show her work at the Westport Art Fair, Hidden Glen Art Festival, Summit Art festival, and the Barstow art show. She is a supporter of the Kansas City Art Coalition and The Summit Art organization.
Karen grew up in Lubbock, Texas and moved to Kansas City in 1985 to attend nursing school at KU. She graduated with a BSN and became a critical care and emergency room nurse for thirteen years. After marrying her husband, Mike, and having two children, she decided to retire from nursing and stay home. When their children were older and self sufficient, she began to steadily pursue her painting career. It is something she is very passionate about and looks forward to paining every day.
