Bio:
I began designing and making jewelry as a senior in high school (an independent study class at Manhattan High School), followed by a metals course at Kansas State University. Later after the birth of my two children, I had the good fortune to study under a professional goldsmith, who emphasized the practical application of skills. There are always new tools, techniques, and materials being developed and the metalsmith must be dedicated to lifelong learning. My academic area of study is biology, and an appreciation of nature can be seen in the use of flowing lines, interesting textures, and organic shapes. Many pieces are designed around a special stone, fossil, or artifact. Perhaps I most enjoy the challenge of creating a wearable piece of jewelry using someone's personal memento or special “find.â€
