Bio:

I create places where one can happily daydream. Primarily a landscape painter working alla prima in the pastel and oil mediums, Kathy Drungilas has painted the Southwest, coastal California, and now lives and paints in the Midwest. "Painting is peace to me; there is nothing more calming or soothing than to play with color and paint." Not limiting herself only to broad vistas, Kathy has applied her artistic eye to other subjects as well, lately a series of paintings of classic automobiles. The smooth lines and surfaces of some of the older classic cars are very appealing. I love reducing a vehicle to the most distinctive portion that is still recognizable--a certain fender, swoosh, or shape. Kathy also has created several pieces of fiber art focusing on items with sculptural appeal and unique perspectives and has combined sound and even smells into her artworks. Kathy is past President of the MidAmerica Pastel Society and has served the organization since 2000 as webmaster and in other positions and responsibilities. She is a charter member of the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society. Kathy was the Gallery Manager at Buttonwood Art Space from 2010-2015 but now resides in Mesa, Arizona and is a free-lance web designer and artist.
