Artist's Bio Leigh graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design in 1981.She spent the first 5 years of her career designing magaines and advertising. That was followed by a year as an Art Director of custom communications for another publishing company. Leigh made the choice to be a stay-at-home mom and and a Freelance Illustrator for the next 14 years. She worked almost exclusively in. colored pencil. From 2000 -2006 Leigh taught art part time at a private school, where she developed her own art program. During that time, Leigh partnered with her husband David, in a home remodeling business. In 2010 she moved her art studio from home to a business in Bonner Springs, KS. A year later to another studio on the main street where she began teaching private lessons. During 2013 Leigh moved into a new studio in Shawnee, Kansas which allowed her the space to teach, and mentor other budding artists. Leigh has used her creativity in many different ways over the years, but there has always been a focus on realism. Early in her career the illustrators like Mark English and John Collier were influencial to her. Today painters Robert Bateman and Howard Terpning are her favorites.In 2006 during a FastTrack class for entripeneurs, Leigh's desire for public art began to grow. Today she is bringing it all together as a full time artist doing murals, shows and plein air painting.
