Bio:

Hi, I’m Leslie Campbell and I create modern art quilts. In 2006, I visited a friend and art quilter, Gina Kellogg, in upstate Pennsylvania. My husband and I stayed at her home for a couple of days, and while there she suggested I sit down at her sewing machine and have fun. I did not have a clue how to begin or what to do. She encouraged me to think differently, feel differently, and express myself differently. This invitation opened a whole new world for me. Ever since then I have been experimenting with fabric and quilting techniques. As an elementary school librarian, I am orderly and disciplined. When quilting, I give myself permission to break traditional quilting rules and find my own voice. As I continue my journey, each quilt evolves into something new and different. When I start a quilt, I rarely have a plan in mind, and let each section build into a whole design. Quilting is a perfect way to express myself. My husband, Scott, and I live in Lawrence, Kansas. We have two adult children and a son-in-law. My family continues to encourage me to express my creativity.
